Program by Gena Stoneburner
Text by Fender Tucker
LOADSTAR has never been a fan of BASIC 7.0's graphics drawing commands,
especially the 40-column ones, because they're too slow for use in a
program. Why not draw your screen ahead of time, save it as a binary file,
then load it when your program needs it?
But BASIC 7.0's drawing tools, like its music tools, are fun to play
with and some Commodoreans have done some amazing things with them. This
40-column picture of the Shah Jehan's Taj Mahal in Agra, India shows that
with some effort and patience, very nice pictures can be drawn. You can see
it in action in this short program. Watch it draw, then check out the code
to see how Gena has used commands like DRAW, PAINT and CIRCLE to make a
small work of art.
Since you're in the graphics mode when viewing the picture, you must
press STOP-RESTORE to exit to the editing screen. We hope you enjoy Gena's
treasure, which apparently was one of the last things to be uploaded to
QLink. Those were the days, weren't they?
